Stream I
Admission in Stream I NIOS Board (CBSE Pattern)
In NIOS Stream I All Fresher Student is applicable for admission. In a year students can get admission in two blocks. For Block 1 Student will conduct their exam in April / May and for Block 2 Student will conduct their exam in October / November.
Stream II
Admission in Stream II NI OS Board (CBSE Pattern)
Students who had appeared but could not clear and who were eligible but could not appear for the Public Examination of Secondary/Senior Secondary Levels from any recognized Examination Board for the same subject in which they had appeared. That Students are eligible to appear in the October-November Secondary/Senior Secondary Examinations of NIOS Stream II.
Stream III&IV
Admission in Stream III&IV NIOS Board (CBSE Pattern)
This stream is open for admission throughout the year. The stream includes students who have already passed Secondary / Senior Secondary from any recognized Board and want to take part admission in one subject or up to 4 subjects for updating their qualification. In this stream, they can appear and conduct the examination. Difference between Stream III or Stream IV is that Stream III is for Secondary students and Steam IV is for Senior Secondary students.

Are the Common Services Centres (CSC) of Government of India authorised to act as NIOS facilitation centres?
Ans: NIOS has entered into an MOU with CSC e-Governance India Ltd., Ministry of Information and Technology, Government of India. Under this MOU, all the Common Services Centres throughout the country will be acting as facilitation Centres of NIOS where any prospective candidates can avail various on-line facilities of NIOS at the prescribed rates. These rates are given at page 7 to 9 of the Handbook.
The amout as per these rates is to be paid by the candidate to the facilitation centre and will be in addition to the registration fee of NIOS.
Do NIOS issue duplicate identity card?
Can a learner choose any subject combination?
Ans : A learner can choose subjects of his/her choice from the list provided at NIOS website and prospectus keeping in view the passing criteria and Certification criteria, as also the requirement of other Boards/University for further education.
Can I seek admission in additional subjects also?
Ans : Definitaly, you can opt two additional subjects. Thus, in all you can choose a maximum of seven subjects.
